- The House of Mystery was originally an assay office, built by the Old Grey Eagle Mining Company in 1904. But the history of the surrounding area, is rooted in Native American lore, they called the area the "Forbidden Ground". With the combined lore from the Native American's and optical illusion caused by the building sliding off it's foundation, this makes the Oregon Vortex is a fun and place to visit.
